Cruisin

Shortly after the first of November Chuck and I set out on a trip through several of the National Parks of the west. I had been through quickly on my way back home in the spring, but we wanted to see them together, and take some time. After 2 days of very fast driving we were in Colorado heading for Moab, Utah. We have many pictures of indescribable sights that you can check out on Chucks picassa web album. http://picasaweb.google.com/Chucks.Pics
Along the way he asked me if I could only see one park which one was best. There were more places to see than we had time, and the driving is tough. Cruiser (above) also added to the mix as you can take a dog into the national parks, but amazingly you can't let them on the paths or hiking trails...Cruiser doesn't think much of being left in the car. I really couldn't pick one: Arches is a driving adventure for a day with wide vistas of the unusual, ever changing. Moab is....earthy. Bryce Canyon begs you to put on your hiking boots and explore; a quote on a sign from an early settler said "it's a hell of a place to lose a cow". Zion National park is a small jewel, compact and easily seen, but needs a lot of exploring for such a small area. We left Canyon Lands for another time. The trip ended in Las Vegas enjoying a night on the town, shopping and looking at investment property, before going on to Palm Desert. Driving across the country is not the chore it once was,; the roads are good, accommodations are available, the speed limit is way fast. Take a drive.
The most beautiful, and fantastic things in the world may be in our own back yard.
